Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

Banana bread, the unsung hero of the baking world. What a way to use up overly ripe fruit and transform it into a cake that will be devoured sliver by sliver! The cake takes the deliciousness of a traditional banana bread one step further by pairing it with a bananas best friend, chocolate. Hitting it with a marbled effect and chocolate chips, this is the best way to eat fruit.

Ingredients

  • 150g butter
  • 150g golden caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 150g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • Pinch of salt

    Chocolate batter
  • 1tbsp coco powder
  • 1tbsp milk
  • 50g choc chips

Method

  1. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Then add the bananas and combine until the banana is evenly distributed throughout
  2. Individually add the eggs, stirring between each addition before adding the flour, baking powder and salt. Fold the ingredients until just incorporated 
  3. Remove half of the batter and place into a separate bowl and add the coco powder, chocolate chips and milk. Mix until ingredients are fully incorporated.
  4. Place the mix into a prepared loaf tin, alternating between each batter. Use a knife to swirl through the mix and create the marbled effect
  5. Bake at 170C for 25-30mins or until a skewer comes out clean. Once baked, remove from the oven and cool fully
  6. Place the cake on a board, slice, serve and enjoy!
