“Witch Fingers” Halloween Biscuit Recipe

These melt in the mouth biscuits packed with the delicious flavours and vanilla and butter are the perfect spooky treat! Finished with some berry jam and an almond fingernail, these biscuits are a quick and easy festive bake.

Ingredients

  • 100g icing sugar, sifted 
  • 250g plain flour 
  • 50g cornflour 
  • 200g butter (softened) 
  • 2tsp vanilla 
  • 1tbsp coco powder

  • Whole blanched almonds 
  • Strawberry jam 
  • Red food colouring (optional)

Method

  1. Beat the butter, vanilla and icing sugar until light and pale. Add the flour and cornflour and fold until combined and mixture forms a ball.
  2. Remove a golf ball sized piece of dough and roll into a log approx. 8cm long. Use your fingers to push some dents to create a ‘knobbly’ look to the biscuit. Use a toothpick to scratch lines around the knuckles and press an almond to simulate a finger nail.
  3. Brush on some coco powder onto the dough, place on a baking trey and bake for 20-25mins at 150C until slightly golden on the outside. Leave on the trey for 5mins before placing onto a wire rack to cool fully. 
  4. Once cooled, remove the almond and place a small dollop of jam into the indentation it has left before putting the almond on top. Dip the end of the finger into the jam to create a blood look and serve.
